Roger Garrett 2008-12-22 22:19:53 | One of the things I need is PLAIN LANGUAGE. I am not a programmer, I am an end user. The reason I don't use Linux is it is impossible to know what a program does by its name. Please stop using API and all the other shorthands. Great that you know them, but it pushes all the non-tech types away. I learned with DOS 3.0 and kept up until OS/2 Warp 4. I now run ECS 1.2 very well. But all the tech talk and abbreviations send me packing. If I wanted to learn Russian language I would. Same for designing a jet fighter. I want to watch TV, not make one. I want to be productive on my computer, not learn vevery hardware part and how it works. I use mine for several functions, database for billing customers, spreadsheet to track rental income from my customers, send and receive faxes without paper and a log of all incoming and outgoing, create and print proposals, and do some minor graphics work for advertising. I need to do some internet work, and need USB support for moving data. As a user, I have enjoyed using Warp ande Ecs since 1994 without ever losing anything on my PC. Not once! That should speak volumes.
I can play games on an XBOX or Playstation or Wii or whatever. Does that help any? |
