Microsoft continues his battle with OS/2. Here is a collection of messages related to ATMs battle.

According to this Microsoft propaganda, IBM will stop supporting OS/2 at the end of this year. Of course, "support" is a very vague term - on the one hand, they have already ended "support" for OS/2, and on the other hand, they have promised to deliver device driver "support" for a few more years. - You will need to buy an antivirus program for every ATM machine (More Costs on Antivirus Software)

A recent disclosure by Diebold that its automated teller machines operated
by two financial services customers were struck by the W32/Nachi worm has
heightened concern of even wider disruptions from virus and worm outbreaks,
and highlights a growing security concern about vulnerability of cash
machines running Windows XP and interacting with other Windows systems....

Automatic teller machines at two banks running Microsoft Windows software were infected by a computer virus in August, reports MSNBC news here.
That's alarming, but not so much because the ATMs were infected. Rather, it's frightening because banks are apparently using an ordinary, commercial Microsoft O/S which is itself plagued by virus-slash-security problems and needs constant fixes and patches....
