With eComStation 2.0 RC1 the D40X works fine with USB SD card reader
or direct USB connection to camera as long as SD card is 2GB or less.
Using a 4GB SDHC card, formatted FAT32 only works so far with eCS if
it is inserted at boot time.

On a related point, I have the Nikon D40 and I find the best way to transfer photos from it is to use Cameradie which supports the PTP transfer protocol.
